Common mistakes
- Using an extended return deadline for an election. The election deadline is based on the first return’s due date without extensions.
- Filing a revocation late and expecting it to apply to the intended year. A late revocation takes effect the following January 1.
- Treating a revocation as temporary. Revocation is permanent. Once the corporation revokes its election, it cannot elect again to be taxed under Article 9, sections 183 and 184.

No. The election remains in effect until the taxpayer revokes it.
