Questions people ask
Is Part II available to businesses?
No. The form labels Part II, the state historic rehabilitation credit, as “Individuals Only.”
How is the Part I credit calculated?
Line 3 is 20% of the current-year qualified rehabilitation expenditures on line 2f, rounded to the nearest dollar. Line 4 is 20% of line 3, unless you are not required to report over a five-year period. In that case, enter the full line 3 amount on line 4.
How is the Part II credit calculated?
Enter qualified preservation costs for each project, limited to $40,000 per project or $20,000 if married filing separately. Add those costs on line 13g, then enter 25% of that total on line 14.
Where do I report transferred credits?
In Part I, report credits transferred from other taxpayers on line 6 and credits transferred to other taxpayers on line 10. Part III asks for details about transfers of the supplement to the federal historic rehabilitation tax credit in 2025.
Where do I report unused credit carryovers?
Report unused supplement-to-the-federal-credit carryovers on line 8 and unused state historic rehabilitation credit carryovers on line 15. Include Schedule CF.
