ScheduleEC: ScheduleEC (2025)
Wisconsin · Wisconsin DOR · Used for tax years 2025
Wisconsin Schedule EC is used to compute and claim the 2025 enterprise zone jobs credit. It reports credit certified by the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC), credits passed through from other entities, and any credit allocated to estate or trust beneficiaries.
Who files this form
Use 2025 Schedule EC to compute and claim the Wisconsin enterprise zone jobs credit. Businesses must first be certified by the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC).
Individuals, estates, trusts, partnerships, LLCs, corporations, and tax-exempt organizations conducting business in a WEDC-designated enterprise zone may be eligible to compute the credit.
Individuals and corporations may claim the credit. Partnerships, LLCs treated as partnerships, and tax-option (S) corporations generally pass the credit through to their owners. The instructions also address S corporations and partnerships that elect to claim the credit at the entity level.
If you receive a passed-through credit as a shareholder, partner, member, or beneficiary, include Schedule EC with your return.
What you'll need
Include these with your Wisconsin franchise or income tax return:
- Completed Schedule EC.
- A copy of your WEDC certification to claim tax benefits.
- Verification of expenses from WEDC.
If you receive the credit from an S corporation, partnership, LLC treated as a partnership, estate, or trust, include the applicable Schedule 5K-1, 3K-1, or 2K-1 with Schedule EC instead of the WEDC certification and expense verification.
For passed-through credits, you also need each entity's name, Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN), and credit amount.
How to file
File Schedule EC with Wisconsin Form 1, 1NPR, 2, 3, 4, 4T, 5S, or 6, as applicable. The text does not specify a mailing address or e-file method for filing the schedule.
- Enter the credit amount certified and computed by WEDC on line 1.
- Enter any passed-through credits on lines 2a through 2c, then total them on line 2d.
- Add lines 1 and 2d on line 3. Generally, report this amount on the appropriate line of Schedule CR.
Special reporting rules apply:
- Combined group members report the credit on Form 6, Part III, line 13 instead of Schedule CR.
- Entities passing through the credit allocate it by ownership interest and report each owner's share on Schedule 5K-1 or 3K-1.
- Fiduciaries filing Form 2 complete lines 3a and 3b, report beneficiaries' shares on Schedule 2K-1, and enter the estate's or trust's share on Schedule CR.
Include the required attachments with your return.
Common mistakes
- Leaving the credit out of income. The credit computed on Schedule EC is income and must be reported on your Wisconsin franchise or income tax return in the year computed.
- Using the same expenditures for another credit. Expenditures included in the basis for another Wisconsin income or franchise tax credit cannot also qualify for this credit.
- Passing through a credit claimed at the entity level. An S corporation or partnership electing to claim the credit at the entity level may not pass it through on Schedules 5K-1 or 3K-1.
- Claiming a false credit. Reckless or fraudulent claims may result in a penalty and ineligibility to claim the credit for up to 10 years.
- Not rounding amounts. The form directs you to round amounts to the nearest dollar.
