SC1040V: Individual Income Tax Electronic Payment Voucher (2025)

South Carolina · South Carolina DOR · Used for tax years 2025

Form SC1040-V is South Carolina’s 2025 Individual Income Tax Payment Voucher. It identifies the taxpayer and the payment amount for a balance due on Form SC1040, including payments for composite returns.

Who files this form

Use the 2025 SC1040-V to mail a payment if you filed your South Carolina SC1040 electronically and have a balance due.

  • If you pay online, do not mail a paper SC1040-V.
  • If you file your SC1040 on paper, send your payment with the return, not separately with this voucher.
  • If you owe $15,000 or more in connection with any SCDOR return, you must file and pay electronically.
  • For quarterly estimated tax payments, use SC1040ES instead.

When it's due

For tax year 2025, the tax due date is April 15, 2026.

You can avoid penalties and interest by filing your return electronically by the due date and paying your balance electronically by May 1, 2026. You must meet both requirements. Otherwise, SCDOR will charge penalties and interest from April 15, 2026, until you file and pay.

What you'll need

For a mailed voucher payment, have:

  • Your SSN and, if filing jointly, your spouse's SSN.
  • Your name and address, including apartment number and ZIP code, and your spouse's name if filing jointly.
  • The balance due from line 34 of your 2025 SC1040.
  • A check payable to SCDOR, with your name, SSN, and “2025 SC1040-V” in the memo.

To pay online, the form directs you to enter your SSN, ITIN, or FEIN and legal name. No account or additional paperwork is required to pay through MyDORWAY.

If you choose to sign up for a MyDORWAY account, you will need your SSN, ITIN, or FEIN and your last payment amount or a copy of your last return.

How to file

Pay online

  1. Visit dor.sc.gov/pay.
  2. Select Individual Income Tax Payment.
  3. Enter your SSN, ITIN, or FEIN and legal name, and select Individual Income Tax.
  4. Select Return Payment.
  5. Enter the required information, choose a payment method, and complete the steps for that method.

Do not mail a paper SC1040-V if you pay online.

Mail a payment after filing electronically

Complete the voucher and check using black ink. Enter your identifying information and payment amount in whole dollars without a dollar sign. The amount should match line 34 of your SC1040.

Check Composite Filer if the payment will be claimed on an SC1040 filed for nonresident partners or shareholders of a Partnership or S Corporation.

Make your check payable to SCDOR. Include your name, SSN, and 2025 SC1040-V in the memo. Mail the voucher and payment together in one envelope to:

SCDOR, IIT Voucher

PO Box 100123

Columbia, SC 29202

Do not include a paper copy of an electronically filed return. If you file your SC1040 on paper, submit payment with that return instead of mailing it separately with the voucher.

Common mistakes

  • Mailing a paper voucher after paying online. The form says not to do this.
  • Using SC1040-V for quarterly estimated payments. Use SC1040ES instead.
  • Mailing a paper copy of an electronically filed SC1040 with the voucher.
  • Sending payment separately with SC1040-V when filing a paper SC1040. Send payment with the return instead.
  • Using ink other than black on the paper voucher or check.
  • Entering a payment amount that does not match the balance due on SC1040 line 34.
  • Sending cash. Use a check payable to SCDOR for a mailed payment, and include your name, SSN, and “2025 SC1040-V” in the memo.
  • Assuming the May 1, 2026 payment date applies without meeting both electronic filing and electronic payment requirements for tax year 2025.
