Complete 2025 Form 578 if you are claiming this refundable credit on your income tax return. You may be the entity that originally generated the credit or a shareholder, partner, or member to whom a pass-through entity (PTE) allocated it.
The credit is based on electricity generated by a qualified zero-emission facility that uses wind as its fuel source and was placed in service before July 1, 2017. The credit is available for 10 years after the facility is placed in service.
Do not complete Form 578 if you elected to carry over the unused credit instead of receiving a direct refund. The form states that carryover may not exceed 10 years and any credit remaining in the tenth year will be refunded at 85%.
