Common mistakes
- Do not put pass-through entity credits on line 11. Report them on line 14 and include the issuers’ IT K-1s.
- Do not include capital loss carryforward amounts on line 31. If lines 30 and 31 together produce a net loss, the form directs you to see the instructions.
- Do not claim a deduction on Schedule II if it already reduced income reported on Schedule I.
- On an amended return, enter zero on line 17 for the credit carryforward.
- Carry apportionment ratios to six decimal places. If a factor’s “Total Everywhere” is zero, proportionately increase the weights of the remaining factors so they total 100%.
- Do not staple or paper clip the return, and do not write in areas reserved for department use.
- Remember to sign the return and include the applicable federal return and all owners’ federal K-1s.
