New York · NY DTF · Used for tax years 2025

Form IT-260 is a New York State and New York City surety bond agreement for special accruals related to a change of resident status. It records the change of residence, the bond amount, and the tax deferred, and secures future payment of tax on the deferred income.

Who files this form

Form IT-260 is for a taxpayer who changes resident status and elects not to report certain special accrual amounts on the return for the taxable period immediately before the change. The form states that a bond is required to secure future tax payments on the deferred income, calculated as if no change of residence had occurred.

What you'll need

  • Acknowledgments by both the principal (the taxpayer) and the surety.
