DTF-630: Claim for Green Building Credit (2024)

New York · NY DTF · Used for tax years 2024

Form DTF-630 is used to claim a carryforward of New York’s green building credit. It reports the credit carried over from the prior year, the amount used in the current tax year, and the amount carried forward. The credit has expired, so only carryforwards may still be used.

Who files this form

Use Form DTF-630 to claim a green building credit carryforward from a preceding tax year. The green building credit has expired, so only carryforwards may still be used.

Partnerships and New York S corporations must not complete this form. Partners and shareholders must claim their carryforwards on their own Form DTF-630.

What you'll need

  • Last year's Form DTF-630, showing the credit carried forward.
  • The tax return you are filing with this claim, to find your tax before credits and the applicable tax limitation.
  • Information about other tax credits you are claiming before the green building credit.
  • Any applicable attachments or worksheets listed in the form's Lines 2 and 5 entries table, such as Form IT-201-ATT, IT-203-ATT, or the Addbacks worksheet in Form IT-205-I.

You will also need your taxpayer identification number and the beginning and ending dates of your tax period.

Common mistakes

  • Claiming a new green building credit. The credit has expired; only carryforwards may be used.
  • Completing this form for a partnership or New York S corporation. Partners and shareholders claim carryforwards on their own forms.
  • Applying credits in the wrong order. Certain credits must be applied before the green building credit. Follow the ordering instructions for your filer type.
  • Treating unused credit as refundable. It is not refundable, but excess credit may be carried forward.
  • Using the credit to reduce tax below the applicable minimum tax or against the MTA surcharge. Neither is allowed.
  • Leaving out the tax period. All filers must enter its beginning and ending dates.
