  • Entering a negative amount on line 10: If line 9 is more than line 8, enter 0.

Questions people ask

Do I need to include my credit certificate?

Yes. Submit a copy of the certificate of tax credit issued by ESD, and use its information to complete lines B through D.

Where do I report credit received from a partnership?

Report the partnership information and allocated credit in Schedule C. Enter the total on line 15 and carry it to line 3.

Can unused credit be refunded or applied to next year’s tax?

Schedule B provides for both options. Line 12 calculates the unused credit. Enter the refund amount on line 13, limited to line 12. Line 14 is the remainder to apply as an overpayment to the next year’s tax. New York S corporations do not complete Schedule B.

How much credit can I use for the current tax year?

For filers completing Schedule B, line 11 is the lesser of the credit limitation on line 10 or the credit after limitation on line 5. Enter that amount on both Form CT-660 and your franchise tax return.
