Common mistakes
- Not e-filing: The form specifically requires electronic filing through TAP.
- Filing late: The signed notice must be e-filed within 10 days of the sale, exchange, or transfer.
- Missing signatures or dates: Both transferring parties, or their authorized representatives, must sign and date the notice.
- Leaving out supporting documentation: Include a copy of the EMNRD certificate of eligibility or previously approved TRD-41430.
- Transferring a credit that has already been partly claimed: The credit cannot be transferred if any portion has been claimed.

Questions people ask
Can a credit be transferred more than once?
Yes. A Department-certified transferred credit holder may sell, exchange, or transfer the credit again if no portion has been claimed. TRD-41430 is required for each transfer.
Can I transfer a credit worth less than $1,000,000?
Yes, but the entire credit amount must be transferred. Otherwise, transfers must be in $1,000,000 increments for Department approval.
When is a certified transferred credit number issued?
The Department issues the number after approving an e-filed TRD-41430.
Which tax years is the credit available for?
The form states that the credit is available for taxable years starting January 1, 2025, through taxable year 2033. If claimed in 2033, the five-year carryforward allows unused credit to be claimed until 2038.
