BT-SUMMARY: Business Tax Summary Form (2024)
New Hampshire · New Hampshire DRA · Used for tax years 2024
The 2024 New Hampshire BT-SUMMARY summarizes your Business Enterprise Tax and Business Profits Tax returns. It reports tax due, payments, credits, additions to tax, and any balance due or overpayment.
Who files this form
The 2024 BT-SUMMARY lists these filing thresholds:
- Business Enterprise Tax (BET): Gross Business Receipts over $281,000, or an Enterprise Value Tax Base over $281,000.
- Business Profits Tax (BPT): Gross Business Income over $103,000.
If you answer “Yes” to either filing requirement in Step 2, you must include the completed corresponding return with your BT-SUMMARY. If you answer “Yes” to both, include both returns.
What you'll need
Have these items ready:
- Your completed BET and/or BPT return, as applicable.
- Complete, legible copies of the appropriate federal forms and schedules. These must accompany the return.
- Your taxpayer identification number, business address and federal principal business activity code. If you have a DIN, use it instead of an SSN or FEIN.
- Amounts for extension payments, estimated tax payments and any credit carried forward from the prior tax period. For an amended return, also provide the tax paid with the original return.
If this submission results from an IRS adjustment for 2024, include a complete federal Revenue Agent Report (RAR), all applicable schedules and a complete amended New Hampshire tax return.
How to file
- Print or type your taxpayer information and complete the return-type questions.
- Complete the BET and/or BPT returns first. Then complete the BT-SUMMARY and attach the required returns.
- Calculate your balance due or overpayment, rounding to the nearest whole dollar.
- Complete the signature section. The paper form calls for the taxpayer's signature in ink.
Online: File through Granite Tax Connect at gtc.revenue.nh.gov/TAP/_/. You can also make your payment there.
By mail: Send the return and attachments to:
NH DRA
PO Box 637
Concord NH 03302-0637
Make any check payable to STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE. Enclose attachments, but do not staple or tape them.
Common mistakes
- Using an SSN or FEIN when you have a DIN: The form says to use the DIN in the appropriate taxpayer identification box instead.
- Leaving out required returns: A “Yes” answer to a BET or BPT filing requirement means you must include that completed return.
- Omitting federal documents or sending unreadable copies: Complete, legible copies of the appropriate federal forms and schedules are required.
- Stapling or taping attachments: Enclose them without staples or tape.
- Not rounding amounts: Step 4 requires rounding to the nearest whole dollar.
