Missouri Form MO-CFC is used to claim the Champion for Children Tax Credit for contributions to qualified agencies. It reports contribution amounts and dates and calculates a credit equal to 50% of qualifying contributions, subject to available funding.

Who files this form

Individuals and corporations may claim this credit if they have income tax due under Chapter 143, RSMo, excluding withholding taxes, and contribute to a qualified agency determined by the Department of Social Services.

The minimum contribution is $100. Qualified agency types are:

  • CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate)
  • Child Advocacy Centers
  • Crisis Care Centers

When it's due

The 2024 tax-year form states that returns claiming this credit must be filed between July 1 and April 15 of each fiscal year. It does not print calendar-year-specific filing dates for the 2024 tax year.

What you'll need

To claim the credit, include:

Common mistakes

  • Leaving out required attachments. Include Form MO-CFC or qualifying agency contribution verification, plus completed Form MO-TC, with your income tax return.
  • Leaving extra contributions out of the total. If you attach a separate sheet, include those contributions in the total on the form.
  • Assuming the full credit is guaranteed. Credits are subject to available funding and may be reduced if claims exceed available funds.
  • Missing a payment after a funding-related reduction. To avoid penalty and interest in this situation, pay the balance or make approved payment arrangements within sixty days of notification. The instructions warn that an unpaid remaining balance, including interest and penalties, becomes due if the balance is not paid within sixty days.
