MO-1120ES: Estimated Tax Declaration for Corporations (2024)
Missouri · Missouri DOR · Used for tax years 2024
Form MO-1120ES is Missouri’s 2024 declaration of estimated corporation income tax. It reports the corporation’s identifying information, taxable year, and installment payment amount, and includes worksheets for calculating or revising estimated tax payments.
Who files this form
For tax year 2024, a corporation subject to Missouri income tax under Chapter 143, RSMo, must make estimated tax payments if its Missouri estimated tax can reasonably be expected to be at least $250.
This includes corporations with unrelated business taxable income but excludes qualified S corporations. Do not use Form MO-1120ES for S corporation shareholder composite returns.
When it's due
For tax year 2024, file Form MO-1120ES and pay by the 15th day of the 4th, 6th, 9th, and 12th months of the tax year. The printed calendar-year dates are April 15, June 15, September 15, and December 15. If a due date falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or legal holiday, payment is timely on the next business day.
If a calendar-year corporation does not initially need to make estimated payments but a later income change requires them, the form lists these filing dates for 2024:
- June 15 if the change occurs after April 1 and before June 2.
- September 15 if the change occurs after June 1 and before September 2.
- December 15 if the change occurs after September 1.
Fiscal-year corporations should use the Estimated Tax Worksheet. Payment must accompany the form, and the corporation will not receive a quarterly bill.
What you'll need
Have these details ready to complete the form and worksheet:
- Business name and address.
- Missouri Tax I.D. Number and Federal Employer I.D. Number.
- Taxable-year beginning date, installment quarter, and due date.
- Estimated Missouri taxable income and federal income tax liability used to calculate it.
- Approved tax credits and any approved overpayment credit applied to the installment.
- Prior estimated payments and credits already applied, if amending your estimate.
For a mailed payment, include a check or money order in U.S. funds. Keep the worksheet page for your records; do not file it.
How to file
- Complete the Estimated Tax Worksheet. Multiply estimated Missouri taxable income by 4%, subtract approved tax credits, and use the worksheet to determine the installment amount. Subtract any approved overpayment credit for that installment.

- Enter the installment payment from worksheet Line 6c on Form MO-1120ES. Round all cents to the nearest whole dollar.

Common mistakes
- Waiting for a bill: The corporation will not receive quarterly billing. Remit payment when due.
- Waiting until the final installment to catch up: Filing or paying on the last installment date does not remove additions to tax for missed earlier due dates.
- Deducting too much federal income tax: Only 50% of federal income tax liability may be deducted when computing Missouri taxable income.
- Filing the worksheet page: Keep it for your records. The page is marked “Do Not File.”
- Leaving cents on the form: Round 1 through 49 cents down and 50 through 99 cents up to the nearest whole dollar.
- Ignoring a substantial change in estimated tax: Use the amended worksheet to update the remaining installment amounts.
Questions people ask
What if my estimated tax changes substantially after I have made a payment?
Complete the Amended Estimated Tax Worksheet. The payment filed by the next filing date must reflect the amended figures. Enter the revised amounts on the remaining forms and mail them with payment.
When can I include a tax credit in my estimate?
The credit must be purchased or approved by the administering agency before it can be included on the Estimated Tax Worksheet.
Can interest apply to late payments?
Yes. Interest is charged on all delinquent payments. The form directs corporations to Form MO-2220 to calculate additions to tax and applicable interest from the date of the underpaid installment. Current interest rates are available at dor.mo.gov/intrates.php.
