MO-1065: Partnership Return of Income (2024)
Missouri · Missouri DOR · Used for tax years 2024
Form MO-1065 is Missouri’s Partnership Return of Income for 2024. It reports Missouri additions and subtractions, partnership adjustments, and the allocation of those adjustments to partners.
Who files this form
A partnership must file Missouri Form MO-1065 if it is required to file Federal Form 1065 and either:
- At least one partner is a Missouri resident, or
- The partnership has income from Missouri sources.
Missouri-source income includes income connected with real or tangible personal property in Missouri or a business, trade, profession, or occupation carried on in Missouri. Income from intangible personal property also counts to the extent the property is used in such a Missouri activity.
When it's due
For tax year 2024, partnerships operating on a calendar-year basis must file on or before April 15, 2025.
What you'll need
Have your completed Federal Form 1065 and all its schedules, including Schedule K-1. The filing instructions require copies to be attached to the Missouri return.
You will also need the partnership's identifying information and, when completing the partner allocation section, each partner's name, identification number, nonresident status, and share percentage from Schedule K-1.
Additional documents may be needed:
- Approved federal extension: Attach a copy of Form 7004.
- Nonresident partners: Complete Form MO-NRP. Nonresident individual partners may also trigger Form MO-1NR and copies of Form MO-2NR, subject to the exceptions described in the form's guidance.
- Exempt federal obligation interest: Attach a detailed list or all Federal Forms 1099 and identify the specific securities. For qualifying mutual fund distributions, include the notification supporting the subtraction.
- Broadband grant subtraction: Attach Form 1099-G, grant documents showing that the Missouri area lacked broadband access, and Federal Form 1065 with applicable schedules.
- Agriculture disaster relief: Attach the Form 1099 showing the agricultural payment and a schedule listing each partner's name, identification number, ownership percentage, and share of the subtraction.
- Special partner allocations: Attach a detailed explanation, including extracts from the partnership agreement, if allocations do not use the same single percentage shown on Schedule K-1. Explain the non-tax purposes and effects.
- Recreational marijuana business deduction: Submit the required financial statement, schedules, medical license number (MED), and all federal schedules.
How to file

- Answer the questions about Missouri modifications and nonresident partners.
- If both answers are No, attach Federal Form 1065 and all schedules, including Schedule K-1, and sign the return.
- If you answer Yes to Missouri modifications, complete Lines 1–13 and the partner information on page 3. If you answer Yes to nonresident partners, complete those sections and Form MO-NRP.
- List all partners in the allocation section, using additional sheets if needed. Provide each partner with a copy of the allocation information.
- Round dollar amounts to the nearest whole dollar. Round partner percentages to the nearest whole number.

Common mistakes
- Not marking an address change: The form warns that failing to select the address change box may cause mail to go to the last address on file.
- Using a vague description for exempt federal interest: Descriptions such as “interest on U.S. obligation” or “U.S. Government securities” are not acceptable. Identify the specific securities.
- Leaving out mutual fund subtraction documentation: Failure to attach the notification detailing the claimed subtraction may result in the deduction being disallowed.
- Not calculating reasonable related expenses: The Department may adjust the amount using the best available information. If records are insufficient, it will use the formula printed in the instructions.
