Who files this form

Form 4910 is the 2025 Michigan Corporate Income Tax combined filing schedule for a unitary business group (UBG) of financial institutions.

List the UBG members whose activity is included on the combined return, starting with the Designated Member (DM). Complete a separate copy of Part 2B for each member listed in Part 1.

What you'll need

Have the following information available to complete the schedule:

  • The Designated Member’s name and federal employer identification number (FEIN), plus each member’s name, FEIN, address, NAICS code and organization type.
  • Each member’s federal tax period, membership dates if a part-year member, and effective end date if filing a final return.
  • Information about Michigan nexus, new-member status and membership by Affiliated Group Election.
  • The Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC) report information needed to identify whose equity is included.
  • Applicable franchise tax base information, Michigan and total gross business amounts, and group eliminations.
  • Prior-period overpayment credits, estimated tax payments, tax paid with an extension request, and Michigan tax withheld or Flow-Through Entity credits.
  • Information about excluded affiliates and members from the immediately preceding combined return that are not included in the current return.

If an entity listed in Part 3 belongs to a federal consolidated group, attach a copy of federal Form 851.

Common mistakes

  • Completing group totals too early. The form says to complete lines 20 and 21 for each member before completing group lines 2 and 3.
  • Repeating the Designated Member in the wrong place. On additional Part 1 pages, repeat the DM’s name and FEIN at the top, but not on line 1. Repeat the answers on lines 2 and 3 on every copy of that page.
  • Completing lines that should be skipped. If the box indicating that a member’s equity is not included in the FFIEC report is checked, complete lines 5 through 13 and 20 through 25. Do not complete lines 14 through 19.
  • Entering negative amounts on lines 14 or 15. Enter zero if the applicable average daily book value is less than zero.
  • Listing an entity in only one part when both apply. An entity meeting the criteria for both Part 3 and Part 4 must be listed in each part.

The form also specifically says to read the instructions before completing it.

Questions people ask

Do I need a separate member-data page for each UBG member?

Yes. Complete a separate Part 2B for every UBG member listed in Part 1.

Where do the group’s gross business totals go?

Add all members’ line 20 amounts and enter the total on line 2A. Add all members’ line 21 amounts and enter the total on line 3A. Carry the after-elimination amounts from lines 2C and 3C to Form 4908, lines 9a and 9b, respectively.

Where do I list a member that was on the previous combined return but is not on this one?

List it in Part 4 if it was included in the immediately preceding combined return of this Designated Member. If it also meets the Part 3 criteria, list it there too.

What if a company is included in the FFIEC report but is not a UBG member?

List it in Part 5 if its equity is included in the top-tiered parent entity’s FFIEC report and in the total equity capital of this return, but it does not meet either the control test or the relationship test required for UBG membership.
