Common mistakes
- Leaving a disallowed deduction on a prior-year return. If any amount in box 1 or box 2 was claimed as a deduction on your prior-year tax return, that deduction is disallowed and you must file an amended return for that year.
- Omitting box 3 from income. Report the amount in box 3 as Other Income on your Hawaii income tax return.
- Mixing up lines 4 and 5. Include line 4 in your Hawaii income tax liability. Include line 5 in your Hawaii income tax withheld.
