700: Partnership Tax Return (2025)

Georgia · Georgia DOR · Used for tax years 2025

Georgia Form 700 is the 2025 Partnership Tax Return. It reports partnership income, Georgia income adjustments and apportionment, income to partners, and any tax due or overpayment.

What you'll need

  • For paper filing: Attach a copy of the federal return and its supporting schedules. The form says a paper return without them is incomplete.
  • Have the partnership’s federal employer ID number, business details, accounting method, and partner information available. Schedule 4 asks for each partner’s name, address, ID number, profit or loss sharing percentage, and Georgia-source income.
  • Attach supporting schedules where requested, including for allocated income, passive or capital loss deductions, other rental expenses, and other additions or subtractions, as applicable.
  • If claiming the listed exceptions for intangible expenses or captive REIT expenses, attach Form IT-Addback or Form IT-REIT, respectively.
  • If reporting net operating loss carryforwards, have records of loss years, loss amounts, amounts used, and remaining balances for Schedule 9.
  • If claiming credits, have the credit codes, company or owner identification details, credit amounts, and Department of Revenue credit certificate numbers, if applicable.

Common mistakes

  • Leaving out federal attachments when filing on paper: The federal return and supporting schedules must be attached, or the return is considered incomplete.
  • Missing the partner’s signature: The form must be signed by a partner.
  • Filing credits on paper: The credit schedules state that credits must be filed electronically.
  • Rounding the Georgia apportionment ratio: Schedule 7 says not to round Column C and to compute it to six decimal places. Dollar amounts elsewhere are rounded to the nearest dollar as directed.
  • Combining different credit codes: Complete a separate Schedule 10 or 10B for each credit code.
  • Treating a purchased Timber Tax Credit as refundable: The form says it is not refundable and must be reported on Schedule 10, not Schedule 10B.
  • Overstating credit carryovers: Before applying the Line 15 carryover to the next tax year, reduce it by amounts elected to be applied to withholding for the current tax year and by expired carryovers.
