Questions people ask
Can I contribute to more than one CHET account?
Yes. You may contribute to up to three existing CHET accounts. If the same beneficiary has multiple accounts, enter each account’s contribution separately.
Can I change my mind after making the contribution?
The form states that contributions are irrevocable.
What happens if a contribution is rejected for deposit?
The rejected contribution will be returned to DRS, which will issue you a refund by paper check.
Could my CHET contribution be reduced?
Yes. Your overpayment is applied first to DRS penalties and interest, DRS taxes, debts to other Connecticut state agencies, federal taxes, taxes owed to other states, and amounts you designate for your 2026 Connecticut estimated tax. CHET and designated charitable contributions come after those items. If your CHET contribution is reduced, you will receive an explanation.
