- Leaving Everywhere blank when claiming zero Connecticut apportionment: A figure must be entered in the Everywhere column for both Schedule Q and Schedule S.

- Including private corporate stock holdings in Schedule S: Exclude holdings of stock of private, nongovernmental corporations.
- Ignoring paper-filing requirements: Use only blue or black ink and do not use staples.
- Using an alternate apportionment method without following the relief procedure: A return requesting relief must initially use the statutory method, with payment of the tax computed on that basis, a specific alternate-method statement, and supporting data.
Questions people ask
What apportionment method applies if my corporation has no industry-specific method?
Corporations not subject to industry-specific methods must use a single receipts factor. Sales of services and intangible property use market-based sourcing rules.
How are service receipts assigned to Connecticut?
Enter service receipts in Schedule Q, Column A, if the market for the services is within Connecticut. The market is within Connecticut if and to the extent the service is used within Connecticut.
What if the corporation owns an interest in a partnership or joint venture?
Include the corporation's pro rata share of the partnership's or joint venture's receipts in both the numerator and denominator of the Connecticut statutory apportionment formula.
Can certain manufacturers elect a different formula?
Yes. Manufacturers reporting in NAICS Sectors 31, 32, or 33 with at least 75% of total gross receipts from tangible personal property sold directly, or indirectly as a subcontractor, to the U.S. government may elect a three-factor formula. It uses tangible property; wages, salaries, and other compensation; and double-weighted receipts. The election applies for five successive income years and is irrevocable for that period. Attach a statement with the apportionment factor calculation.
