CT-1041V: Connecticut Electronic Filing Payment Voucher (2024)

Connecticut · Connecticut DRS · Used for tax years 2024

Form CT-1041V is Connecticut’s 2024 payment voucher for trusts and estates that filed their income tax return electronically and pay by check. It identifies the trust or estate and fiduciary and records the payment amount.

Who files this form

Use the 2024 Form CT-1041V if you filed a Connecticut income tax return for a trust or estate electronically and choose to pay by check. This form is a payment voucher, not the income tax return.

When it's due

For tax year 2024, the voucher states that the total tax due must be paid by the fifteenth day of the fourth month after the taxable year closes. It lists April 15 for calendar-year filers.

Any unpaid balance is subject to penalty and interest. Paying electronically does not remove the requirement to file the return by its due date.

What you'll need

To complete the voucher, have:

  • The name of the trust or estate and its Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN).
  • The fiduciary’s name, title, and mailing address.
  • The payment amount.

For payment by mail, include a signed check with the completed 2024 voucher. Do not include a paper copy of the Connecticut income tax return for the trust or estate.

How to file

Pay by mail

  1. Complete the 2024 voucher in blue or black ink.
  2. Make your check payable to Commissioner of Revenue Services.
  3. Write “2024 CT-1041V e-file” on the front of the check. You may also write the trust or estate’s FEIN, which is optional on the check.
  4. Sign the check and paper clip it to the front of the voucher. Do not send cash or a paper copy of the return.

Pay electronically

Visit myconneCT. After logging in, find your tax account on the Summary screen, select Make a Payment, and choose a payment method:

  • Direct payment: Authorize DRS to withdraw money from a checking or savings account on a date you select, up to the due date.
  • Credit or debit card: Pay with American Express, Discover, MasterCard, VISA, or a comparable debit card. The service provider charges a convenience fee. You will see the fee amount and may cancel the transaction. The payment is effective on the date you make the charge.

At the end of the electronic payment transaction, you will receive a confirmation number for your records. You must still file your return by the due date.

Common mistakes

  • Using the wrong year’s voucher: Each form is year specific. Use the correct year’s form to avoid processing delays.
  • Including a paper return: Do not submit a paper copy of the Connecticut income tax return with this voucher.
  • Sending cash: The form says not to send cash.
  • Using the wrong ink: Complete the voucher in blue or black ink only.
  • Paying late: Tax not paid by the due date is subject to penalty and interest.
  • Treating electronic payment as filing: Even if you pay electronically, you must still file the return by its due date.
