  • Direct payment: Authorize a withdrawal from your checking or savings account on a date you select, up to the due date.
  • Credit or debit card: A convenience fee applies. You will be told the fee amount and may cancel the transaction. Payment is effective on the date you make the charge.

Keep the confirmation number provided at the end of the transaction. Paying electronically does not replace filing your return by the due date.

Common mistakes

  • Using the wrong year’s voucher: Forms are year specific. Use the correct year’s form to prevent processing delays.
  • Including a paper return: Do not submit a paper copy of your Connecticut income tax return with this voucher.
  • Sending cash or using staples: Send a check and paper clip it to the front of the voucher.
  • Using the wrong ink: Complete the voucher in blue or black ink only.
  • Paying late: Unpaid tax after the due date is subject to penalty and interest.
  • Treating an electronic payment as filing a return: You must still file your return by the due date.
