Colorado · Colorado DOR · Used for tax years 2024

Form DR 0112X is used to correct a 2024 Colorado C Corporation income tax return. It reports amended tax amounts and determines any additional amount owed, refund, or overpayment to credit toward estimated tax.

Who files this form

Use the 2024 DR 0112X to correct a Colorado C corporation income tax return for tax year 2024.

You must use the amended return form for the tax year you are correcting. The Department cannot process an amended return on the wrong year's form.

What you'll need

Submit all required schedules and supporting certifications, even if they have not changed from the original return.

Have the following information and documents available, as applicable:

  • The corporation's name, address, Colorado Account Number and federal employer identification number (FEIN).
  • Federal taxable income from Form 1120, line 30; Form 1120X, line 3c; or Form 990-T, Part I, line 11.
  • The original return or previously adjusted amounts if you are calculating the refund or balance due yourself.
  • DR 0112RF for receipts-factor or special-rule apportionment, and Schedule C for the group filing types that require it.
  • Required credit forms, such as DR 0112CR, DR 1366, DR 1370, DR 1330, DR 1305G, DR 0617, DR 1307 and DR 0619, for the credits you claim.
  • W-2G forms if claiming withholding from lottery winnings.

Pay by check

Common mistakes

  • Using the wrong year's form. Your amended return cannot be processed unless the form matches the tax year being corrected.
  • Leaving out unchanged supporting documents. Required schedules and certifications must still be submitted. Missing documents will cause processing delays and disallowance of credits, subtractions or reduced apportioned income.
  • Stopping before completing the return. The form reminds you to continue through page 5.
  • Leaving identifying information off a check. Include the tax year and your FEIN or Colorado Account Number, or your account might not be properly credited.
  • Carrying a Colorado net operating loss back to an earlier year. The form specifically says this is not allowed.
  • Overlooking the consolidated-report election warning. The election is binding for four years. If made in a prior year, enter the year of election.

Questions people ask

Can the Department calculate my refund or balance due?

Yes. After completing line 44, leave lines 45 through 60 blank if you want the Department to compute and mail your refund or compute your balance due and mail a bill. You still need to complete the rest of the return, including the signature section.

Can I apply an overpayment to next year's estimated tax?

Yes. Enter the amount to carry forward on line 59. Line 60 is the refund claimed after subtracting line 59 from the overpayment on line 58.

Do I need to resubmit schedules that have not changed?

Yes. All required schedules and supporting certifications must accompany the amended return, even if unchanged.

How do I identify a protective claim?

Check the protective claim box under the reason for amending and include an explanation. This applies to a claim contingent on future events that may not be determinable before the refund claim period expires.

Where can I find more information about income, deductions and credits?

Refer to the income tax 112 Book for 2024. The form also directs taxpayers to Tax.Colorado.gov for additional information and guidance publications.
