DR 0105: Fiduciary Income Tax Return (form only) (2024)
Colorado · Colorado DOR · Used for tax years 2024
Form DR 0105 is the 2024 Colorado Fiduciary Income Tax Return for estates and trusts. It reports federal taxable income, Colorado additions and subtractions, tax, credits, payments, and any amount owed or refund.
What you'll need
Have your federal Form 1041 available. Line 1 of DR 0105 uses federal taxable income from Form 1041, line 23. You will also need the estate or trust’s identifying information and the fiduciary’s name and address.
Include the supporting documents that apply to your return:
- Beneficiary schedules: Complete and submit the Schedules A and B page if you claimed any federal Income Distribution Deduction. These schedules ask for beneficiary names, addresses, and shares of federal distributable net income. Submit the Schedules C and D page if you use either schedule. Schedule D asks for beneficiary SSNs or ITINs.
- Tax and credit schedules: Submit Schedule E for a nonresident estate or trust. Submit Schedule F if used for alternative minimum tax, and both pages of Schedule G if used for credits.
- Withholding forms: Submit W-2s and/or 1099s claiming Colorado withholding for line 22, and each W-2G for lottery withholding on line 23.
- Credit forms: Depending on the credit claimed, the return requires DR 1366, DR 1370, DR 1330, DR 1305G, DR 0617, DR 1307, or DR 0619. Schedule G also requires DR 0349, DR 0289, or DR 0375 for the corresponding credits.
- Statements and certificates: Include the assessor’s statement for the Business Personal Property Credit. For applicable credits, include the required certificates from the Office of Economic Development, OEDIT, the Colorado Energy Office, CDPHE, or the local granting authority.
- Other-state returns: For the Credit for Tax Paid to Another State, submit relevant pages showing adjusted gross income, any disallowed federal deductions, and the tax calculation. For the Dual Resident Trust Credit, attach a copy of the return filed with the other state.

If you claim credits for tax paid to more than one state, the Department strongly recommends electronic filing. Filing on paper may delay processing.
Common mistakes
- Not rounding amounts: The form says to round all amounts to the nearest dollar.
- Using inconsistent identifying information: The estate or trust name and CAN or FEIN on later pages must match page 1.
- Leaving out required schedules: Submit Schedules A and B if you claimed a federal Income Distribution Deduction. Submit other schedules as required, including both pages of Schedule G when used.
- Exceeding the credit limit: The total on line 19 cannot exceed line 14.
- Leaving penalty or interest out of the amount owed: Include applicable amounts from lines 40 and 41 in line 42.
- Assuming a mailed check will be processed only as a paper check: The State may convert it to a one-time electronic banking transaction and debit the account as early as the day it receives the check. A converted check will not be returned.
