Questions people ask
Can I qualify if I was younger than 65 in 2024?
The form allows you to meet the age-or-SSI requirement if you received Title 16 SSI payments in 2024. Include proof of those payments. You must also meet the other qualification requirements.
How is the property tax credit calculated?
Use your total household income and the appropriate schedule to find the credit for line 11. The schedules show a maximum of $502. Your property tax credit on line 15 is the smaller of the scheduled credit or the total property taxes on line 14.
Can I claim the increased excise tax credit on this form?
Part 2 calculates this credit at $25 per person counted under its lines 2 through 4, up to $100. Do not complete Part 2 if someone else claimed you as a dependent or if you meet the form’s prison-sentence restriction.
Can I request direct deposit?
Yes. The form has fields for your routing number and account number, plus boxes for checking or savings. Check box 19A if the deposit will ultimately be placed in a foreign account; the form directs you to the instructions for that situation.
