What does the table’s example show?
The example uses a married couple filing jointly with taxable income of $23,360. They use the row for at least $23,300 but less than $23,400 and the married filing jointly column. Their tax is $1,088, which they enter on line 14.
What if my taxable income is over $100,000?
Use the worksheet for your filing status. Subtract $100,000 from your taxable income and multiply the result by .05. Then add $4,958 if you are single, married filing separately, or head of family. Add $4,918 if you are married filing jointly. The total is your tax.
